The highly-anticipated Pop culture event, Comic Con India, is set to make its inaugural appearance in the North East on November 22. This first edition will showcase the talents of celebrated comic book artist Bill Golliher, famous for his extensive work with Archie Comics, where he contributed to the creation of iconic characters.
Joining him are 16 prominent Indian creators, such as acclaimed illustrator Tadam Gyadu from Arunachal Pradesh and digital artist Debojyoti Choudhury from Assam, whose culturally vibrant artworks have attracted international attention. The festival will further feature performances from comedians and musicians, including the hip-hop dance crew Unity One Crew from Guwahati.
Comic Con's CEO, Shefali Johnson, emphasizes the event's commitment to inclusivity, promoting genres like gaming, music, and cosplay to engage the energetic youth culture of the Northeast. Akshat Rathee, co-founder of NODWIN Gaming, highlights the region's creative spirit, now celebrated locally, reducing the need for fans to travel for recognition.
