Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji has announced his latest venture, 'Emperor vs Sarat Chandra', a film that digs into the throes of the freedom movement, paying homage to Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel 'Pather Dabi' on its centenary.

Drawing from the anti-British backdrop, Mukherji recently unveiled a captivating poster hinting at themes of resistance prominently featured in Chattopadhyay's work. The film, slated to begin shooting in January, stars Abir Chatterjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and Mimi Chakraborty.

In a statement, Mukherji underscored the film's narrative as a juxtaposition of the pen and sword during India's turbulent freedom struggle. 'Emperor vs Sarat Chandra' also marks Mukherji's debut as a music composer, according to producers.
