Director Rian Johnson has expressed a strong interest in casting three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep in a future installment of the 'Knives Out' series. Speaking to IndieWire, Johnson highlighted Streep's potential fit for the murder mystery genre, stating that she would integrate seamlessly, according to reports by People.

Having just completed 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,' the director was prompted with the question of his dream collaborators alongside Daniel Craig's recurring role as detective Benoit Blanc. Johnson lauded the opportunity to pair Streep's talent with the franchise's enigmatic storytelling.

Scheduled for theatrical release on November 26 and set to stream on Netflix on December 12, 'Wake Up Dead Man' explores darker themes, inspired by Johnson's social concerns. Meanwhile, Streep continues her presence in the mystery-comedy genre with Hulu's 'Only Murders in the Building' and is slated for a role in 'The Devil Wears Prada 2,' hitting theaters in 2026.
