The somber atmosphere outside the Goa Medical College and Hospital on Sunday was heavy with grief as relatives and friends anxiously awaited news of their loved ones after a nightclub fire claimed 25 lives. Among those gathered were laborers from Jharkhand who refused to accept the bodies, urging the nightclub owner to arrange transportation of the victims back home.
The massive blaze erupted at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, claiming the lives of staff, tourists, and party-goers. With 14 staff members among the deceased, the identification process is ongoing for the remaining victims, including four tourists.
Authorities, including Goa police, are working diligently to identify the charred bodies, while postmortem procedures await completion of legal formalities. The tragic incident has left communities, both local and distant, grappling with the sudden loss.
