Renowned filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife were apprehended by Udaipur police from Mumbai, accused in a Rs 30 crore fraud case. The arrests were made following allegations by Dr Ajay Murdia, who claimed the couple cheated him in a biopic production deal.

Dr Murdia, founder of Indira IVF Hospital, alleged that Bhatt and his associates defrauded him by promising hefty returns from a film production that never materialized. An initial agreement had involved producing four films, worth a total of Rs 47 crore. Though two films were completed, the remaining projects were not.

Legal representatives for the couple alleged that Rajasthan police acted without proper authority and forced the accused to sign undated documents. Meanwhile, police investigations suggest a calculated plan to siphon off funds using fake vendor bills. The court has granted transit remand till December 9 for the accused to be moved to Udaipur for further proceedings.
