A Ukrainian tourist's sudden death in Jodhpur has cast a pall over the city's tourism sector. Kateryna Hryhorenko, 58, died unexpectedly on a 30-day visit to India. Her funeral was conducted with Hindu rites on Wednesday, as organized by the Hindu Seva Mandal Vishnu.

Kateryna was staying at a friend's house in Chopasni Housing Board area when she was found unconscious. Despite efforts to revive her, she was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, confirmed SHO Ishwar Chand Pareek. The morning started unremarkably, with Kateryna waking up around 8:30 a.m., only to pass away in her sleep soon after.

The Ukrainian Embassy involved a funeral service agency to ensure the proper conduct of her funeral. Kateryna previously visited Jodhpur with her son; this visit she was alone. Her unexpected passing has highlighted the connections between international visitors and local rituals.
