In a bid to bolster winter tourism, the Uttarakhand government is unveiling a 'Snow Leopard Tour,' according to State Tourism Secretary Dhiraj Garbyal. This new initiative will welcome tourists to high Himalayan regions, such as Gangotri, in a controlled manner, aiming to position the state as a prime winter destination.
The plan, developed after Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a meeting with senior officials, seeks to boost tourism through homestays, adventure activities, and cultural experiences. Special attention is being directed to Gangotri National Park, where the snow leopard tourism will be trialed on a pilot basis before potential expansion.
By rejuvenating winter tourism, the government hopes to enhance the local economy and create a unique identity through festivals and cultural events across districts. Preparations are underway, intending to meet a December deadline to ensure all facilities and infrastructure are in top condition to cater to visitors.
