The event, intended as a celebratory occasion for Messi's visit, was marred by chaos as eager spectators found their view obstructed by others, leading to frustration and discontent among fans. Subhashree's social media post, shared prior to the disorder, drew criticism and accusations of insensitivity from political figures and online users.

In her defense, Raj Chakraborty argued on social media that being an actor does not disqualify Subhashree from being a fan. He highlighted the unreasonable treatment she faced due to her public profile, questioning the media's role in amplifying the incident. Following the widespread disapproval of the event, the prime organizer was arrested, with West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launching an investigation while expressing regret to disappointed fans.
