Prominent Bollywood figures, including Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Gulzar, and Salim Khan, stepped forward to vote in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections on Thursday, encouraging Mumbaikars to embrace this civic duty.
As voting proceeded from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, these celebrities highlighted the importance of selecting the right candidate to address issues related to infrastructure, utilities, and community welfare.
Despite their efforts, music composer Vishal Dadlani expressed dissatisfaction at the low voter turnout, labeling it "shameful." The election pits BJP's Mahayuti coalition against the combined forces of Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, battling for control of the BMC's substantial budget.
