Winter Wonderland: Fresh Snowfall Graces Kashmir's Higher Reaches

Kashmir's higher reaches, including Gulmarg and Sonamarg, witnessed fresh snowfall, creating picturesque landscapes. The Meteorological department predicts continued light snow at higher altitudes and intermittent rain in the plains over the coming days, potentially impacting travel plans and drawing tourists to the region's winter beauty.

The higher reaches of Kashmir, renowned for their scenic beauty, were blanketed under fresh snowfall on Friday, according to officials. Tourist hotspots like Gulmarg in Baramulla and Sonamarg in Ganderbal districts saw significant snowfall, attracting winter tourists once again.

Other areas such as Gurez, Razdan Top, Sadhna Top, and Zojila Axis along the Srinagar-Leh national highway also reported fresh layers of snow. The Meteorological department notes more snow in the higher terrains, with light rain expected in the plains.

The department indicated that the weather would veer from partly to mostly cloudy on Saturday and Sunday, with prospects for more rain and snow by January 19-20. This could affect local travel but also promises a beautiful winter landscape for visitors.
