Sherlock Season 5 Update: The Walking Dead’s Eleanor Matsuura eager to reprise
Although BBC is yet to order Sherlock Season 5, still Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman-starring series has several positive indications to take place. One more latest update on the series is that The Walking Dead Season 9 actress Eleanor Matsuura (who plays the role of Yumiko in the series) is passionate to come back in Sherlock's upcoming season.
The Walking Dead actress Eleanor Matsuura was introduced in Sherlock Season 4's premiere episode titled The Six Thatchers. Tokyo-born English actress played the role of Detective Inspector Stella Hopkins. Fans got to see the 35-year old actress in a video call with Sherlock (played by Benedict Cumberbatch). The door seemed to be open for her in Sherlock Season 5, as her character visited Baker Street apartment and sent a notion to assist Sherlock. But after that, since she was not invited, there lies a gap in the plot which is likely to open a chance for her in the series.
When asked by Digital Spy on her interest to return to Sherlock Season 5, Eleanor Matsuura excitedly said, "I totally would! I love that show." "I've always been a huge fan of the show. I think it's phenomenal. The actors, the writing, how it's shot is so beautiful, and I had such a great experience. "If [Sherlock] went again, I would be delighted to step back into it. I would," the actress added.
The series' future is uncertain, but co-creator Steven Moffat and Benedict Cumberbatch are hopeful that they would be able to work on the fifth season at some point. But since Moffat along with Mark Gatiss is currently involved in the making of Dracula, it is reportedly not possible for them to work on both the projects simultaneously. Mark Gatiss is also likely to come back to play the role of Sherlock's brother Mycroft Holmes.
