Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up to host a major motorsports event aimed at promoting the state as a prime destination for adventure tourism. Set to cover the challenging terrain from Namsai to Pangsau Pass, the event will occur over two days starting this Thursday.
A key highlight, PowerDrive includes a hill climb event, a first in the country, which starts at Hell Gate on January 22. The event also features India's inaugural tarmac autocross, scheduled for January 23 in Namsai town. Organised by Adventure X-Fusion Tribe under the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, it coincides with the 10th edition of the Pangsau Pass International Festival 2026.
Support from the state tourism department and Assam Rifles underscores the importance of the event. Officials highlight its dual role in showcasing Arunachal Pradesh's scenic beauty and cultural diversity while emphasizing the infrastructure potential of Namsai, marked as an aspirational district by NITI Aayog. The ceremonial flag-off will be attended by Assam Rifles DG Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera and state Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.
