On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu undertook a significant spiritual visit to the Biraja temple in Jajpur district, Odisha, to perform the 'pinda daan' ritual for her ancestors. The visit witnessed extensive security arrangements, with approximately 600 personnel ensuring the safety of the president.

The Biraja temple, a 13th-century shrine, is dedicated to Goddess Biraja, worshipped as Durga. During her visit, President Murmu honored the sacred traditions by performing the 'pinda daan' ritual at the 'Navi Gaya,' a holy pool located within the temple premises.

The president's visit led to the closure of schools in Jajpur town and surrounding areas, ensuring smooth proceedings at the temple. Following this spiritual engagement, President Murmu will participate in the convocation ceremony at Fakir Mohan University in Balasore.
