The Punjab government has rejected the application of imprisoned Khadoor Sahib MP, Amritpal Singh, seeking temporary release to attend the Budget session of Parliament. Authorities cited security risks and public order concerns as primary reasons for denial.
After a directive from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to decide on Singh's request, Punjab officials concluded that his release poses a threat, referencing opinions from Amritsar law enforcement and a relevant Supreme Court ruling.
Amritpal, held in Assam's Dibrugarh jail, aimed to address pressing issues in his constituency. Despite his petition, Amritpal's prior record and ongoing detention underscore the state's stance on maintaining order and security above political privileges.
