The British Council in New Delhi announced significant strides in strengthening the partnership between India and the UK, especially in the fields of education and culture. Ahead of the AI Impact Summit, Alison Barrett, the India head, emphasized shared ambitions for inclusive growth and youth opportunities.
In a bid to deepen ties, eight UK universities have been approved to open campuses in India. The University of Southampton has already established its presence in Gurgaon, with more planned in cities like Gujarat, Bengaluru, and Mumbai by 2026. This marks a new era of collaboration under the University Grants Commission guidelines.
Aligned with the India-UK Vision 2035, these educational initiatives aim to elevate bilateral relations while fostering cultural collaboration through the India-UK Programme of Cultural Cooperation. The British Council, celebrating its 92nd year, remains at the forefront of these efforts, promoting mutual learning and understanding.
