Mizoram is gaining prominence as the fastest-growing tourist destination in the Northeast, thanks to enhanced railway connectivity and large-scale infrastructure development, Governor VK Singh announced on Tuesday.
In his address during the Budget session, Singh lauded the introduction of the Bairabi-Sairang rail line as a key development, emphasizing its role in boosting trade, tourism, and employment opportunities.
The improved connectivity has linked Aizawl to the national network, resulting in a significant rise in tourist arrivals, with over 6.79 lakh visitors recorded, including 9,606 foreign tourists, surpassing last year's numbers by 29.50 percent.
December alone recorded over 1.33 lakh visitors, marking a 122.11 percent increase from the previous year. The state has received substantial central funding for tourism infrastructure, including a Vantawng Falls ropeway and a convention centre, further solidifying its eco-tourism efforts during the Mizoram Travel Fest 2025.
