In a strong show of community resistance, women in Uttar Pradesh's Kasaiganj district protested against the planned opening of a country liquor shop in their locality. The gathering, which took place on Wednesday at Gangeshwar Colony along Sarawati Shishu Mandir Road, voiced concerns over potential antisocial activities.
Protesters, mainly women, claimed the shop would threaten the safety of residents, particularly school-going children, due to its location between a residential area and a school route. The demonstration resulted in a road blockade, disrupting local traffic for hours.
Pallavi Bhardwaj, one of the protest leaders, emphasized that the agitation will persist until authorities assure the liquor shop license is either canceled or the outlet relocated. Police officials, including Circle Officer Aanchal Chauhan, assured that the matter would be thoroughly examined and reported to senior officials for a final decision.
