Warner Bros is taking a bold step into the cinematic world of 'Weapons' with a prequel titled 'Gladys'. Filmmaker Zach Cregger is set to write the script with acclaimed 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' scribe Zach Shields. The film focuses on the complex character of Gladys, portrayed by the talented Amy Madigan, who recently clinched an Academy Award for best supporting actress in the original film.

Madigan's portrayal of Gladys, a dark and enigmatic aunt in a modern retelling of the Pied Piper folktale, captivated audiences worldwide, contributing to 'Weapons' massive box office success of USD 270 million. The prequel aims to explore the backstory of this uniquely villainous character, expanding the narrative arc that intrigued viewers in the original film.

Having discussed the potential for this prequel, Madigan expressed enthusiasm about revisiting the character. 'Zach has a map of what he would like to do. It would be such a blast, and it would be really great if we could revisit her in some way,' she shared. Set to be produced alongside Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and Miri Yoon, 'Gladys' promises to be an exciting installment in Warner Bros' creative portfolio.
