The revered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will recommence through Uttarakhand's Lipulekh Pass in June, welcoming 500 devotees to the sacred site in Tibet. Officials disclosed on Thursday that the pilgrimage will proceed in 10 groups, each consisting of 50 participants, under the oversight of Pithoragarh District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgain.
A decisive meeting regarding the Yatra framework, led by the joint secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), took place in Delhi on April 27. The meeting saw collaborative discussions among officials from pertinent departments.
While specific dates and protocols await MEA's announcement, preparations for the pilgrimage are evidently underway. The journey regained momentum only last year after a five-year pause, following its suspension due to the Covid pandemic and the India-China military standoff in Ladakh.
