A tragic incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district as four individuals drowned during a 'mundan' ceremony on Sunday morning in the Ganga river. The victims, including a teenage girl, were bathing post-ritual when the accident occurred.

Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh reported that at approximately 7.30 am, a young girl, taking a selfie, slipped and began to drown. In a courageous but ill-fated rescue attempt, three others jumped in to save her but unfortunately were overpowered by the river's current.

Local fishermen and a fire brigade team were involved in a search operation that led to the recovery of the bodies identified as Harshita Chauhan, Arun Chauhan, Nandita Chauhan, and Arjun Chauhan. The police confirmed that the bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination, providing a glimpse into the family's tragic loss.
