This new figure surpasses the earlier record, set just this year, by an impressive 18%, drawing applications from runners worldwide.

"This astonishing total of applicants firmly establishes London as the world's most sought-after marathon," stated Hugh Brasher, CEO of London Marathon Events. Plans may include extending the event to a two-day format to manage the soaring interest.
