In a dramatic rescue operation, forest personnel successfully saved an injured leopard from a rivulet near the Gupt Sahasradhara pilgrimage site in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmour district on Monday. Officials coordinated efforts in the remote Killod village within the Paonta Sahib subdivision to ensure the animal's safe capture following reports from locals.
The rescue faced challenges when the leopard, in a critical state due to its injuries, became aggressive. Initial attempts to capture it using a net proved futile, necessitating the use of a tranquiliser dart by Forest Range Officer Sumant Kumar and his team.
The operation drew a significant crowd, prompting the deployment of police personnel for safety. Following its rescue, the leopard was transported to a veterinary hospital for thorough health examination and treatment, ensuring the animal receives the necessary care.
