A protest broke out in Tonk, led by family members and activists of Hindu organizations, after a 17-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide due to pressure to convert religions. The protestors demanded justice, citing conversion pressure as the cause of the tragedy.
The protestors, under the Sarv Hindu Samaj banner, gathered at Ghantaghar Chowk, causing significant traffic disruptions with slogans and burning tyres. The police are investigating complaints involving several accused persons, including a Muslim girl, her family, and a school teacher, for allegedly forcing the boy into conversion.
Hukmichand, the Tonk SDM, assured the demonstrators that demands for justice, compensation, and a government job for the boy’s family will be relayed to authorities. Meanwhile, no arrests have been made yet as the investigation continues.
