On Sunday, residents of Parbhani, Maharashtra, actively participated in 'No Vehicle Day' as a response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for austerity amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, said the district administration.
Modi's suggestions to conserve resources included reducing petrol and diesel usage by promoting metro rail services, carpooling, increased use of electric vehicles, utilizing railways for parcel movements, and encouraging work-from-home practices.
The district administration noted a significant decrease in traffic as citizens adopted bicycles, walking, or public transport instead. Parbhani district guardian minister, Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, praised the community's dedication to fuel savings and environmental conservation, urging participation in future 'No Vehicle Day' events.
