Youth Sparks Outrage by Desecrating Ambedkar Flag

A youth allegedly desecrated an Ambedkar flag in India. The act, captured in a viral video, occurred at the Satish Chandra College intersection. The accused, identified as Om Ji, is on the run, and the Bhim Army filed a complaint leading to a police case.

A youth was booked here for allegedly taking off a blue flag bearing the image of Dr B R Ambedkar, throwing it to the ground, and trampling it underfoot, police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the incident took place at the Satish Chandra College intersection, near the statue of former MP Tarkeshwar Pandey, where a flag bearing Dr Ambedkar's image was hoisted.

On Monday, a video went viral on social media showing a youth with a saffron 'gamcha' (towel) around his neck, taking off the flag and crushing it under his foot.

Kotwali Police Station SHO Praveen Kumar Singh on Tuesday said that, acting on a written complaint filed by the Bhim Army, a case was registered against the accused, identified as Om Ji, under sections of the BNS.

Om Ji remains absconding and police are looking for him, he said.
