The production company Matchbox Shots, recognized for projects like 'Andhadhun' and 'Scoop', has secured the adaptation rights to 'The Gurugram School Murder,' a gripping book by crime journalist Leena Dhankhar. The book details the tragic killing of a young boy at a Gurugram school in 2017.

Helmed by Dikssha Jyote Routray and supported by the victim's family, the adaptation aims to shed light on the harrowing truths behind the pressures faced by children in modern urban India. The crime stirred public outcry regarding school safety, influencing the storyline representation.

Leena Dhankhar emphasized that beyond crime, it's a narrative of a family's enduring quest for justice. Meanwhile, the boy's father remains steadfast in his appeal for accountability and societal awareness to prevent further tragedies.

Details on whether the adaptation will be a film or series are yet to be disclosed, as Matchbox Shots readies its upcoming Netflix series 'Operation Safed Sagar.'
