A fire that broke out in the record room of Gurugram District and Sessions Court has prompted the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The fire, which began on Sunday afternoon, rapidly engulfed several rooms, resulting in part of the building collapsing. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
To maintain court operations, proceedings have been temporarily relocated to the PWD Rest House. Despite the disruption, hearings in urgent cases proceeded as planned on Tuesday. An official statement confirmed that necessary arrangements have been made for both advocates and litigants, ensuring the continuation of judicial work.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, with crime unit and forensic teams conducting a thorough site inspection. The seven-member SIT, led by Dharambir Singh and supervised by Karan Goel, has been tasked with uncovering the details behind the blaze.
Chandra Kant Sharma, president of the Gurugram Bar Association, emphasized the importance of uninterrupted judicial proceedings and advised the public to disregard any rumors. Efforts to reconstruct records and implement alternative court arrangements are being prioritized to minimize public inconvenience.
