Albanians Rally Against Luxury Resort on Adriatic Coast
Protests erupted in Albania against Jared Kushner's plan to develop a €1.4 billion luxury resort on an ecologically sensitive Adriatic coastline. Environmentalists warn it threatens local wildlife. Despite backlash, the Albanian government supports the project, assuring compliance with environmental laws. Kushner's previous venture in Serbia was abandoned after similar opposition.
Thousands of Albanians took to the streets in Tirana to protest against a proposed luxury resort by Jared Kushner’s firm, Affinity Partners, on a vital ecological location along the Adriatic coast.
While the €1.4 billion project promises economic benefits, environmentalists argue it could disrupt precious wildlife habitats close to the Vjosa-Narta protected area. This tension has drawn large crowds, with demonstrators calling for Albanian leaders to halt the project for the sake of natural and cultural heritage.
Prime Minister Edi Rama remains steadfast in supporting the development, emphasizing responsible environmental stewardship. The government assures it will uphold strict environmental laws. This development echoes Kushner's abandoned project in Serbia, which succumbed to public protests last year.
