A Toronto cannabis shop gained unexpected fame after receiving a legal notice from FIFA for selling a 'FIFA Bong.' The bong, resembling the World Cup trophy, was removed after only one sale. The store's decision to destroy the bongs resulted in significant attention and publicity.
A Toronto cannabis shop, Cosmic Charlies, has found itself in the global spotlight after receiving a legal notice from FIFA. The controversy arose when the store, located on the trendy Queen Street, sold a bong called the 'FIFA Bong,' designed to resemble the World Cup trophy.
FIFA's legal team acted swiftly, issuing a copyright infringement notice to the owners, brothers Sean and Charles Kady. The bong, priced at C$50, was sold to just one buyer before the store received the legal demand for its removal from sale.
Sean Kady, reflecting on the surprise attention, remarked on the unexpected publicity, saying, 'Destroying the bong brought us more PR than we anticipated.' This incident has inadvertently boosted the store's profile amid the World Cup celebrations being co-hosted by Canada.
