The main stage of the New Zealand Music Festival was evacuated just a little before a minute's silence to honour the 50 victims of the March 15 Christchurch terror attack. Music lovers were evacuated from the main stage of the Homegrown Festival in Wellington.

Reports say the police were concerned about the presence of a man and decided to empty the stage as a safety precaution. "A person has been spoken to and the area searched, and as a result, the police can confirm there has been no threat to the Homegrown Festival or the public." A police officer said there had been a misunderstanding.

Festival organizers urged the people to standby just before 10 pm local time. "For all of you who have been evacuated from Dub n Roots, please standby, we are hoping to reopen the stage - we will update you as soon as we know," stated Homegrown on a Facebook post.
