CM Jai Ram participates in concluding ceremony of Minjar fair in Chamba

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today participated in the concluding ceremony of the eight-day long international Minjar fair in Chamba.

Thakur led a procession, which started from Akhand Chandi Palace to Manjri Garden to immerse the Minjar (golden tassel) in the Ravi river as the festivities came to an end with much fanfare and religious fervor.

The chief minister was accompanied by his wife Sadhna, the state's Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kishan Kapoor and some MLAs.

The procession was followed by palanquins of local deities and cultural troupes along with police and home guard jawans and the locals from all walks of the life.

Earlier in the day, Thakur performed the 'Bhoomi-pujan' of widening and strengthening of 19 km stretch of Chamba-Khajjiar road to be completed at a cost of Rs 14.84 crore under central road funds.

The CM also inaugurated the science lab of a Government school in Chamba constructed at a cost of Rs 1.30 crore.

He then witnessed wrestling bouts at the historic Chaugan and distributed prizes to the winners.

In the evening, a colorful cultural programme was held at Chamba Chaugan and Thakur released the Minjar souvenir brought out by the mela organizing committee.
