Jeera prices fell by Rs 190 to Rs 19,420 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions to book profits at prevailing levels amid lower domestic and exports demand.

Furthermore, higher arrivals also weighed on jeera prices in futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in September fell by Rs 190, or 0.96 percent, to trade at Rs 19,420 per quintal with an open interest of 8,202 lots.

Similarly, the spice for August moved down by Rs 80, or 0.41 percent, to trade at Rs 19,080 per quintal in 348 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fading demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position exerted pressure on jeera futures.
