Cape Town Sevens bags Best Live Experience of 2018 awards

Tickets to the tournament were sold out in a few hours and the tournament saw a jam-packed of audiences crawling the stadium.

Cape Town Sevens, the enormously popular tournament held at Cape Town strikes once again by bagging the Best Live Experience of 2018. It got the recognition at the 2018 Sports industry Awards held in Johannesburg on Friday evening.

Tickets to the tournament were sold out in a few hours and the tournament saw a jam-packed of audiences crawling the stadium. The spectators came out in huge numbers to witness the live action of 16 teams contesting the second leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series.

SA Africa Rugby also managed to claim the Award for the Best Use of PR in a campaign with their online video named, "The Arrival" which was launched right after they were crowned as World Rugby Seven Series Champions for 2016/17.

The "Sharks" Facebook page won the Digital Platform of the Year Award while Vodacom claimed the Best sponsorship of an event or competition.

Jurie Roux CEO of SA Rugby heartily congratulated all the person involved in the event. She said that "We are in a market where other national games such as Cricket, Soccer etc are all putting some very remarkable events. Thus at this point to grab such a prestigious award is very welcoming."

She also added that the challenge for them now will be to maintain the repo and continue with its winning streak. The other Sporting codes are too improving their event management and are continuously upgrading themselves to be one of the best.

The Cape Town Sevens for 2018 will again be contested at the Cape Town Stadium on December 8 and 9. Though an official announcement on the date is yet to be notified however it will be very interesting to see whether the tournament will be able to maintain its legacy or not.
