Is Coconut oil purely Poisonous?
A Harvard professor has blasted the popularity of coconut oil terming it as "one of the worst food" a person can have.
Karin Michaels, the director of the Institute of Prevention and Turmor Epidemiology at the University of Freiburg in a talk titled "Coconut oil and other Nutritional errors" revealed that it is pure poison and possibly one of the worst food a person can have.
Though often touted as a health food, there is no scientific evidence of the significant health benefits of coconut oil consumption.
A video released on Youtube about coconut has gone viral and nearly crossed 1 million views.
This is not only the first time in recent years when the light has been shed on the ill effects of coconut oil.
In 2017 American Heart Association (AHA) released a report stating that ingesting coconut is harmful as it contains high saturated fat content.
Experts were also of the opinion that many people believe that cooking with coconut oil is healthy because it has been marketed that way.
But the reality is somewhat different then the way it has been pointed as coconut oil is made up of 80 percent of saturated fat with butter and beef containing 60 percent and 40 percent saturated fat respectively
Dr. Tara Narul said "Saturated Fat raises the LDL or the bad cholesterol oil which is going to have the same effect as butter and beef with the former to be slightly dangerous than the latter ones.
The American Heart Association, on the contrary, suggested that replacing saturated fats including coconut oil butter and beef with healthier, monosaturated and polysaturated fats like olive oil peanut oil lowers cardiovascular disease risk by about 30 percent.
