Exhibition showcasing India's arms and ammunition inaugurated

A three-day exhibition showcasing the Defence forces' arms and ammunition and models of assets was inaugurated here Friday as part of the nation-wide commemoration of the second anniversary of the Army's surgical strikes across the Line of Control.

Naval Officer-in-Charge of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Alok Bhatnagar inaugurated the exhibition, where the public can also view a fresh video clip of the surgical strikes released by the center Thursday, a defense official said.

The clip, which was made using overhead footage from unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs and thermal imaging, shows a terror launchpad being destroyed. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced last week that various events will be held from September 28 to 30 to commemorate the valor of soldiers.

Exhibits on the weaponry of the defense forces and models, including that of ships, among others are on display at the event being held at a Kendriya Vidyalaya here.

On September 29, 2016, the Army carried out surgical strikes on seven terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in retaliation to an attack on its base in Uri earlier that month.
