'Bharosa'-- a 24-hour state-of-the-art centre to support women and children who are victims of violence and in distress, was inaugurated by Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar here Monday.
The centre would help these women along with dealing in POCSO cases, he told reporters.
Bharosa is a one-stop centre working round the clock to resolve problems of women and children and has been set up on the instructions of the DGP, Telangana, to ensure speedy justice to women in distress, he added.
The centre, run by all women staff, provides counselling to women who face sexual assault or sexual abuse and also provides the services of a clinical psychologist, social counsellors and legal counsellor.
Women facing domestic violence would be helped through counselling.
They will also be guided to file a complaint in the police station and get their problems redressed by approaching a civil court through the Domestic Violence Act, the Cyberabad Police chief said.
"If any woman is thrown out of her house and has nowhere to go, she will be provided temporary shelter through a partner NGO. She will also be provided training in any of the areas of her interest through partner NGOs," he said.
Sajjanar said the centre also has facilities to record statements of children in POCSO cases in a child-friendly atmosphere.
Victim compensation in sexual abuse cases would also be processed through the centre with further follow-up till the victim receives the compensation, he added.
