Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has urged state departments and agencies to collaborate with IREDA as Goa aims to generate 100 per cent of its electricity through renewable energy sources by 2050.

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) provides financial assistance for setting up projects relating to new and renewable sources of energy and energy efficiency/conservation.

''Addressing the 'CII Goa Conference on Clean Renewable Energy' in Panaji today, Chief Minister of Goa urged the departments and agencies of the state to sign an MoU with the IREDA for faster development of renewable energy in Goa,'' a statement issued by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said.

Goa aims to generate 100 per cent of its electricity through renewable energy sources by 2050. This will require an investment of around Rs 1.30 lakh crore and can generate up to 15,000 direct and indirect jobs, it added.

In his address, IREDA CMD Pradip Kumar Das emphasised the significance of green finance and the need to focus on innovative financing mechanisms to accelerate the deployment of new and emerging renewable energy technologies such as green hydrogen, green ammonia and e-mobility.

The IREDA comes under the MNRE.
