HanesBrands to shutter El Salvador plant on lower demand

U.S. apparel company HanesBrands will close one of its plants in El Salvador, the company said in a statement on Friday, citing global economic conditions and low consumer demand.

The closure will occur gradually, starting with 702 employee layoffs on Friday, the statement said.
