The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Kerala's Ernakulam and Thrissur districts for Thursday. An orange alert has been declared for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad for today and Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki districts for tomorrow.
Due to the expected strong winds and bad weather, it is advised not to venture into the sea from the Kerala coast until further notice, according to an official release issued by the Kerala Chief Minister's office. Heavy rains can create hazards, including flash floods, urban waterlogging, and landslides. Residents, particularly those in unsealed houses or houses with weak roofs, should exercise caution. If danger is imminent, contact authorities and evacuate to safe places.
Currently, 223 people have been relocated to 8 camps across the state, according to the release. (ANI)
