Freeman Nomvalo, the Administrator of NSFAS, has confirmed the processing of a bulk payment for accommodation allowances, addressing concerns raised by landlords of private student accommodation. Following consultations with stakeholders, Nomvalo assured that payments were processed at the end of May and beginning of June 2024, with the next payment scheduled by mid-June 2024 to clear all legitimate claims.

Nomvalo emphasized the importance of landlords refraining from evicting students with outstanding payments, reaffirming NSFAS's commitment to resolving issues by the specified date. Landlords with queries regarding outstanding payments were advised to contact NSFAS for assistance. Additionally, Nomvalo urged TVET college students without bank accounts to open one and submit their details through the NSFAS portal to prevent payment delays.
