Lokanandam, a native of Sompeta in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district, had recently returned to his village from Kuwait for elections and engagements. Tragically, on the same day he returned to Kuwait, he passed away, a relative reported.
On Friday, the village of Sompeta was engulfed in grief as news of Lokanandam's untimely demise spread. Relatives and friends gathered at his home to offer their condolences. His mother was inconsolable, surrounded by mourners.
The Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) confirmed that Lokanandam, along with two other migrant workers, M Satyanarayana and M Eshwarudu from West Godavari district, died in the recent fire accident in Kuwait.
According to Lokanandam’s brother-in-law Santha Rao, he stayed in Hyderabad from June 5 before returning to Kuwait on June 11. Lokanandam, the only breadwinner for his family, has prompted Sompeta villagers to seek help from Union Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu for repatriation of his body.
The remains of Lokanandam, Satyanarayana, and Eshwarudu are expected to arrive in New Delhi by Friday afternoon, and will then be transported to Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada airports for onward transit to their hometowns.
