In anticipation of the Kanwar Yatra 2024, the Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar emphasized the state's comprehensive preparations to ensure a smooth and secure pilgrimage. Advanced security measures, including drone surveillance and support from central agencies, will be implemented to safeguard devotees.

The annual Kanwar Yatra, scheduled to commence on July 22 and conclude on August 2, presents a significant challenge for the Uttarakhand police in terms of security, law and order, and traffic management. This year's preparations will leverage technology and interstate collaboration to address these concerns.

Highlighting the proactive steps taken, DGP Kumar mentioned an interstate meeting held on July 1 with police officials from eight states, alongside central agency representatives and CAPFs. Drones will be employed for effective crowd and traffic management. The DGP expressed confidence in the successful execution of the Yatra, citing previous experiences and inter-state cooperation.

Further reinforcing the commitment to a systematic and well-organized event, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a budget of Rs three crores, allocated to the District Magistrate of Haridwar for various arrangements. These funds aim to enhance the facilities for the large influx of Shiva devotees expected this year.

The Kanwar Yatra is a revered annual pilgrimage for Shiva devotees, drawing them to sacred sites in Uttarakhand and Bihar to collect the holy water of the River Ganga. Conducted during the month of 'Shravan', dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Yatra demands meticulous planning and coordination to ensure the safety and convenience of all participants.
