Mumbai's Coastal Road Phase 3 Temporarily Opens for Commuters

The third phase of the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road Project has been temporarily opened. Connecting Haji Ali to Worli, this section will be open from Monday to Friday. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde inspected the road before its opening. The project holds significant budget allocation from BMC.

The third phase of the Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road (South) Project has been temporarily opened for traffic. From Thursday onwards, the section connecting Haji Ali to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Road in Worli and Haji Ali's Arm 8 will be accessible from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

The road will close on weekends to facilitate the completion of remaining work. This 3.5-kilometre stretch improves northbound connectivity between Haji Ali and Worli. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and other officials, inspected the road before it opened for commuters on Thursday.

Earlier, on June 10, CM Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the second phase, a 6.25 km stretch connecting Worli to Marine Drive. The initial phase saw its commencement on March 11. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation earmarked Rs 3200 crore for this project in its 2022-23 budget, the highest allocation at 17 per cent.
