In the wake of two devastating road accidents in Uttar Pradesh that resulted in several fatalities and injuries, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday urged immediate action. The first incident in Hathras saw a double-decker bus crash into a roadside truck, leaving two dead and 16 injured, as per Ashish Kumar, the District Magistrate.

Police Superintendent Nipun Aggarwal led a swift rescue operation, ensuring the injured received quick medical attention. A statement from the Chief Minister's Office confirmed the state's commitment to providing proper treatment for the wounded. The tragic event evoked grief from CM Adityanath and calls for expedited rescue efforts.

Earlier, on Wednesday in Unnao, another double-decker bus collided with a milk van, resulting in 18 deaths and 19 injuries. The accident took place on the Agra-Lucknow expressway at 5:15 a.m. Affected victims were rushed to Lucknow and the District Hospital in Unnao. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Rs two lakhs ex-gratia for the deceased's kin and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The incidents have prompted condolences from numerous political leaders.
