Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri applauded the findings of a State Bank of India (SBI) report, highlighting the creation of 12.5 crore jobs under the Modi administration over the past decade, a stark contrast to the 2.9 crore jobs created during the Congress-led UPA's 10-year tenure. Puri, who also serves as the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, emphasized India's progress towards becoming the world's third-largest economy.

In an interview with ANI, Puri cited the SBI Chief Economist's report, stating, 'The Modi Government has facilitated the creation of 12.5 crore jobs from 2014 to 2024, compared to just 2.9 crore under the UPA from 2004 to 2014.' He underscored the substantial economic advancements India has made, transforming from the world's 10th or 11th largest economy to the fifth largest in a decade.

Puri further detailed India's rapid economic growth, mentioning improvements in housing, infrastructure, mobile phone exports, and the urban transport system. Highlighting the transition of 250 million people out of multi-dimensional poverty, he added, 'Our achievements include 12.5 crore jobs in the formal sector, plus 20 crore individuals registered on the MSME Udyam portal.' The minister projected that sustaining a growth rate of 7.5-8% could elevate India to a USD 5 trillion economy within the next 2-3 years, enhancing per capita income significantly.
