The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced a virtual meeting aimed at resolving ongoing strikes by advocates that are disrupting judicial work across numerous districts in Uttar Pradesh. The BCI has urged the High Court Bar Association of the Allahabad High Court to end the strike and return to normal court activities. The BCI has pledged to address the grievances of the High Court Bar Association swiftly.

Nevertheless, the continuance of strikes or boycotts cannot be permitted. The BCI is aware of the hurdles faced by legal professionals and will deliberate on these matters during the meeting to identify effective solutions. Scheduled for Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 1:30 PM, the meeting will involve participants including office bearers of BCI, the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj District Bar Association, and the High Court Bar Association, Allahabad. The agenda includes discussing the Supreme Court's directives prohibiting lawyer strikes and exploring compliance strategies.

The meeting will also focus on resolving grievances through dialogue, gathering feedback from all involved parties, and establishing a framework for continuous engagement. The BCI aims to develop immediate measures to prevent further strikes, foster effective communication, and offer grievance resolutions without resorting to strikes. Further, the role of different Bar Councils and associations in facilitating dialogue and cooperation, establishing a permanent grievance redressal mechanism in each Bar Association, and ensuring regular meetings to promptly tackle issues will also be discussed, according to a BCI statement.
