Congress Clinches Manglaur Seat in Uttarakhand By-Elections

Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin of Congress triumphed over BJP's Kartar Singh Bhadana in the bye-elections for the Manglaur Assembly seat, winning by 422 votes. The victory is significant in the BJP-governed state of Uttarakhand. Congress celebrated the win as a triumph of democracy and leadership.

Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin, the Congress candidate, has been declared the winner of the Manglaur Assembly seat by the Election Commission of India. The results, announced on Saturday, confirmed Nizamuddin's victory over BJP rival Kartar Singh Bhadana by a narrow margin of 422 votes. Nizamuddin garnered 31,727 votes, while Bhadana received 31,305 votes.

This significant win for Congress comes in the BJP-ruled state of Uttarakhand. The state’s Congress unit took to its official X handle to celebrate the victory, declaring a 'wave of change' in the Badrinath assembly. The post credited the win to the blessings of Mahadev and highlighted the power of democracy, stating that the people have shown they are aware of their rights and have warned against dictatorship.

Vishal Maurya, the social media president, visited state president Karan Mahara to congratulate him on the win. Maurya expressed gratitude for Mahara’s leadership during the by-elections in the Badrinath and Manglaur assembly seats. The counting of votes for the 13 legislative assembly seats across seven states began on Saturday morning, with polling held on July 10.

The by-elections were conducted in one seat each in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh; two seats in Uttarakhand; three in Himachal Pradesh; and four in West Bengal. The constituencies included Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu; Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh; Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagda, and Maniktala in West Bengal; Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh; Badrinath and Manglaur in Uttarakhand; Jalandhar West in Punjab; and Rupauli in Bihar.
