Li Dong, a former senior official at China Energy Investment Corp, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Tuesday for accepting bribes, according to state television reports.

Dong, who served as the group's deputy general manager, was found guilty of taking 108 million yuan ($14.86 million) in bribes to help companies and individuals secure coal and job opportunities.

The exchange rate at the time of sentencing was $1 to 7.2662 Chinese yuan renminbi.
