The governor of South Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo has mandated the cessation of all mining operations in the area, citing disorder and unrest caused by mining operators. The directive was issued through an official statement on Friday.

Governor Jean-Jacques Purusi Sadiki announced that the suspension, which will last until further notice, is a necessary measure to address the chaotic circumstances prevalent in the mining sector. 'All companies, businesses, and cooperatives are required to leave the sites and operating locations within seventy-two hours,' stated Governor Sadiki.
