Restoration work continued on Friday on the railway track in Gujarat's Porbandar, which was affected due to heavy rains and waterlogging. Railway officials reported that Porbandar received around 300 mm of rain in the last few hours, causing significant water accumulation on the tracks.

Bhavnagar Railway Division DRM, Ravish Kumar, told ANI, 'Porbandar city has received around 300 mm of rain in the last few hours. This is unexpected, due to which a lot of water has accumulated on the tracks.' He added that rail operations on the route were immediately halted after the waterlogging was discovered.

'Our people showed promptness and stopped rail operations so that there was no damage. Around 300 to 400 people are working. We are trying to restore the track as soon as possible,' Kumar said. Due to the submergence of the Porbandar track, the Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Porbandar Superfast Express was halted at Bhanvad town in Gujarat's Devbhumi Dwarka District on Friday, briefly stranding 250 passengers.

Several parts of Porbandar witnessed severe waterlogging because of the heavy rain. Residents were seen wading through knee-deep waters. Heavy rains lashed Gujarat's Saurashtra region on Thursday and Friday. (ANI)
